Marca Perú has created the "Friends of Peru" award, with the objective of consolidating friendly ties with those citizens of the world who promote the benefits of Peruvian products and culture.
This recognition was presented for the first time to Spanish Jordi Roca, pastry chef in charge of the dessert line of the restaurant El Celler de Can Roca (second of the list of 50 Best Restaurants in the World), for the use and promotion he makes organic cocoa in Peru.
Jordi Roca is a distinguished pastry chef who, in 2014, was chosen as the World's Best Pastry Chef by the prestigious English magazine Restaurant Magazine.
"Our gastronomy and products have conquered palates, but also people. People that we want to honor from today with the recognition of 'Friend of Peru'. This new award will be given to non-Peruvians of international reputation who help us spread the best that our country has", said the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Eduardo Ferreyros Küppers.
After receiving the recognition, Jordi Roca was very grateful and reaffirmed again that the Peruvian cacao is a product that is generating value to Peru. It should be noted that the renowned pastry chef has shown a special support to the cocoa producers of the Oro Verde community in the San Martín region for the quality of their product.
