More than 200 Russian tourism companies gathered at ‘Casa Perú’ in Moscow to receive training on the main tourist destinations in Peru and to enjoy the Peruvian cuisine and diverse cultural activities that have been organized in this venue within the framework of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Russian journalist Ivan Vasin, who visited Peru thanks to a press trip organized by PROMPERÚ and who works today for the local edition of the renowned National Geographic magazine, was in charge of the main exhibition, “20 Reasons to Visit Peru.”
After the presentation, the tour operators enjoyed Peruvian cuisine and pisco and were able to tour ‘Casa Perú’, being infected with Peruvian joy to the rhythm of La Patronal and the National Folklore Ensemble, and getting to know the cultures of the coast, mountains and rainforest. The aim of this is to increase tourism to Peru, an activity that contributes to 3.9% of GDP in the country and generates more than 1.3 million direct and indirect jobs.
A signing ceremony was also held for the agreement reached between the Lima Chamber of Commerce and the Moscow Chamber of Commerce. The collaboration agreement between the two institutions seeks to increase commercial exchange between the two cities.
‘Casa Perú’ is the main, innovative strategy implemented by the Peru Brand to promote the wonders of the country within the framework of the 2018 World Cup in Russia. On its second day of operation it welcomed thousands of visitors, especially at the end of the day during the Russia-Egypt match, when the host nation secured its place in the next round.
‘Casa Peru’ House brought together the best of the three Peruvian regions and showcased Peru’s main tourist attractions and star export products. It was opened to the public on June 18-28 at the Manege Exhibition Center, located close to Moscow's iconic Red Square.
It also housed the 'Mundialistas' photographic exhibition organized by the newspaper El Comercio, which looked back on the participation of the Peruvian team in past world cups thanks to a careful selection from its historical photo archive.
Along with ‘Casa Perú’, a Mobile Casa Perú was also created. It was in Gorki Park in Moscow, Saransk, Ekaterinburg and Sochi. The aim was to convince visitors from all over the world who attended sporting events to become Peru 'fans', so that they visit the country in the near future.
‘Casa Perú’ was an effort led by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism, through PROMPERÚ, and has the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, the Association of Exporters (ADEX) and the regional governments of Tacna, Ica, Piura, Lima, Junín, Arequipa and Cusco, where many of the products to be presented come from.
Currently, there is a Virtual Casa Peru which can be visited at www.casaperu.pe
