Good news! Our country obtained excellent results in the latest country image and reputation studies. According to the Country RepTrak® 2019 ranking, prepared by the Reputation Institute, Peru climbed two places, putting us at the head of Latin American countries. We rank 25th with 62.2 points overall, showing a growth of +2.2 points over the previous year and placing us ahead of Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Chile.
In addition, according to the Country Index study carried out by the British FutureBrand, Peru climbed 12 places (from 49th to 37th place) and, together with four other emerging countries, it is among the group of countries that have shown the fastest progress since 2014, when the survey was last carried out.
The Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Edgar Vásquez, stressed that these achievements of the country's promotion strategy should fill us with pride and encourage us to work more for Peru, to boost our exports and continue to attract investment and more international tourists, which contributes to Peru's economy for the benefit of all Peruvians.
Peru, leader in the region
In the Country RepTrak® 2019 extended survey, Peru showed a growth in reputation of +3.7, reaching 57.3 points in the evaluation carried out for countries in our region.
According to FutureBrand, we also rank second in Latin America, surpassed only by Argentina. As pointed out by the Managing Director of FutureBrand Latin America, Gustavo Koniszczer, today Peru is one of the new BRICS. Along with Slovakia, Hungary, Turkey and Romania – countries that climbed between 12 and 24 places each – we are among the next "must see" nations.
About country image and reputation studies
Country RepTrak® 2019 measures the admiration, esteem, trust and good impression that a country generates in relation to others. It thus compiles a ranking with the 55 countries with the highest GDP, through surveys carried out with citizens of the former G8 (Germany, Canada, United States, France, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom and Russia). In support activities that strengthen our country's reputation among the former G8 countries, the study highlights that Peru would be recommended for a visit (+4 points in relation to 2018), for organizing and attending events (+5.1 points), for buying products or services (+2.3 points) or for investing (+2.2 points).
The FutureBrand study was conducted through surveys answered by 2,500 people in 75 countries; each respondent rated seven countries. These people have traveled abroad at least once in the last year.
