Peru began its participation in the 39th edition of the International Tourism Fair (Fitur 2019) in the best possible way, by receiving the Excelencias award for the Marca Perú (Peru Brand) campaign called 'Capitanes', with the participation of the renowned Peruvian chef Virgilio Martínez and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Mukhin, owner of the most important restaurant chain in Russia.
This campaign, which was conducted within the framework of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, revolved around a challenge: to bring two "captains" of world cuisine face to face, where both of them would discover the ingredients and supplies that cause the two cuisines to be unique, and have great identity.
The campaign reached three million people through Marca Perú's social networks, and achieved more than seven million views, strengthening promotion of the country's image at the moment in the food industry. The award was received by the Vice Minister of Tourism, Liz Chirinos, a few hours before the start of Fitur.
PERU AT FITUR
With respect to the Spanish travel market, Peru is seeking to use Fitur to promote regions still little explored by travelers: the northern Peruvian Amazon, and with special emphasis on the segments of adventure, nature, culture and cuisine. PROMPERÚ is thus presenting a specialized magazine to publicize different tourist circuits and gastronomic routes in northern Peru.
It also complemented its participation with a main stand of 229.5 m2 whose theme revolved around the international campaign 'Peru, the richest country in the world', which seeks to attract international attention due to the wealth that the country offers in relation to invaluable travel experiences.
It also has a gastro bar with the best of our cuisine and pisco-based cocktails, as well as virtual reality products about the Nasca Lines, the citadel of Choquequirao, the dunes of Ica, the shamans of Peru, and the re-creation of a typical house in Kuelap, the main attraction of northern Peru, where you can learn about the lifestyle of the ancient Chachapoyas.
It is important to note that Fitur consolidated its leading position as a major business forum for the global tourism industry in 2018, receiving 251,000 participants, 2.5% more than in the 2017 edition. The 20 Peruvian companies that attended are expected to hold various business meetings with major tour operators and airlines in the market with a view to concluding potential business worth $13.5 million.
