Peru’s band “La Patronal” brought traditional music to Moscow

As one of the activities promoting Peruvian culture at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the Peruvian band “La Patronal” performed at ‘Casa Perú’, which opened its doors on June 18-28 at the Manège exhibition center in Moscow.

This music group, which is made up of around 20 people, including musicians from traditional and contemporary orchestras, brought a part of Peru’s vibrant culture to Russia, especially the tradition that is cultivated in villages such as Túcume and Paucartambo.

“La Patronal” has been on the scene for almost two years. It has been very successful with its performances as a “music band” and its proposal that aims to resemble a journey around Peru.

Its presence in Moscow ensured the contagious joy of traditional music at ‘Casa Perú’. Visitors enjoyed shows in a space inspired by the terraces of the mountains, as well as Peruvian music workshops offered by the band.

“La Patronal” also gave some concerts with the National Folklore Ensemble, which set the beat at ‘Casa Perú’ with its dances and the brilliance of its traditional costumes.

About “La Patronal” 

A band that celebrates the tradition of popular festivals from the interior of Peru. The group was formed in 2016 from a project that sought to give new value to the band format in order to bring it to new audiences.

The project's founding director, César Fe, describes “La Patronal” as “an association that seeks to unite the vibrant culture of festivals, which is union and diversity”, also adding that: “Festivals are the space where individualism is revolutionized to become part of a collective”.
