The unique flavor of Peruvian cooking keeps gaining new admirers all around the world. A new demonstration of the best in Peruvian gastronomy was set in the historic city of Moscow. Peruvian Gastronomic Festival was held with the support of the Peruvian Embassy in Russia at the exclusive Four Seasons hotel, located in front of the impressive Red Square. Representatives of the most exclusive restaurants and export market investors were in attendance. Gastronomic schools, supermarkets, and specialized magazines from the Russian capital city also participated in the event. Chef Jhosef Arias, owner of Callao 24 and Piscomar restaurants in Madrid, presented Peru’s most iconic dishes. He travelled from Spain for this event. However, he did not work alone, Peruvian Embassy residency chef, Alonso Alba, and Peruvians Ana Salinas and Fiorela Tapias also collaborated with him. There is no doubt the stars of the evening were the many different dishes offered at the event. Guests were able to try delicacies like ceviche, causa de cangrejo (mashed potato terrine stuffed with crab meat), pulpo al olivo (octopus in olive sauce), seco de cordero (lamb stew) or the cherimoya desserts. Obviously, pisco sour was served for the toast. Peruvian super foods like golden berry, quinoa, and purple corn were also served. Peruvian ambassador in Russia, Carlos Velasco Mendiola, highlighted that Peruvian cuisine is the product of cultural mixing through thousands of years. From Andean and Spanish influences to African and Chinese contributions, national gastronomy offers a wide variety of dishes for every taste. “Our goal is to bring the amazing experience of Peruvian gastronomy to those who have never tasted it or heard about its glory”, said the ambassador.
