The 38 Peruvian companies that attended the SIAL international food exhibition, a specialized trade show which took place from October 21 to 25 in Paris, achieved business deals worth more than US$ 300 million, reported the Peruvian Export and Tourism Promotion Commission (PROMPERÚ).
The products which aroused the most interest among the more than 155 000 attendees were preserved artichokes, ají peppers, peppers and frozen fruits. Walnuts were also presented as a new addition. Thanks to this demand, deals exceeded projections by 30%.
Buyers who visited the Peruvian stand were mainly from France and other countries such as Belgium, Italy, the UK and Germany. Importers also attended from various Asian countries and the US.
The 38 Peruvian companies attended the event together with the representatives of Pacific Alliance members (Mexico, Colombia and Chile), which attracted the attention of the thousands of visitors who turned out for this important international fair.
Products from Agroindustrias Amazónicas, Sociedad Agrícola Vírú, Danper, Cosecha de Oro and Caynarachi were exhibited at the SIAL Innovation area, an important showcase for new food trends. A Peruvian culinary demo took place at ‘La Cuisine’, a television space organized and directed by the show.
This is one of the activities carried out by PROMPERÚ as part of the sector's strategy to increase agro-exports, in line with the guidelines of the National Strategic Export Plan (PENX). Peru’s participation was made possible by PROMPERU, with support from Peru’s Foreign Trade Office (OCEX) in Paris.
