Peru dazzles at ANUGA 2019, the world's most important food fair

Peru participated at ANUGA 2019 with great business expectations, the world's main fair specializing in processed foods and beverages, which took place from October 5 to 9 in Cologne, Germany, the Peruvian Promotion Commission for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ) reported.
This biannual fair celebrated 100 years since its creation, coinciding with the twentieth anniversary of Peruvian participation.
The Peruvian delegation was made up of 40 companies from Áncash, Ayacucho, Cajamarca, Junín, La Libertad, Lambayeque, Lima, Madre de Dios, Piura and San Martín, 70% of which are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Trade agreements of $200 million are expected.
They displayed their highly developed products under the Super Foods Peru brand, being able to serve both the retail sector and private brands. Some of the products offered were mango, avocado, blueberries, lemon, passion fruit, pineapple, pomegranate, cocoa, lucuma, quinoa, kiwicha, cañihua, maca and olives. As well as cereals, noodles, legumes, vinaigrettes, jams, tapenades, ready-to-eat quinoa and desserts, among others.
It should be noted that ANUGA 2019 started a strategy of empowering the private sector in the world's main fairs. This was how the Lima Chamber of Commerce joined in this activity to promote the internationalization of SMEs from the 10 participating Peruvian regions.
EXPORTS
Exports to the world of agricultural products promoted under the Super Foods Peru brand amounted to $2,385 million between January and July of this year, showing a growth of 8% compared to the same period in 2018.
Frozen food sent to the European Union in the first seven months of the year amounted to $76.3 million (+9%), with mango, passion fruit, fruit pulp and avocado the main products.
In the ready-made and canned food area, shipments to this economic bloc totaled $95.5 million (3%). The main products are canned asparagus, canned piquillo pepper and processed paprika.
As for the organic food line, these were exported for a value of $100 million, highlighting fresh bananas, cocoa beans and quinoa grains.

ANUGA 2019, a biannual fair that welcomes more than 7,405 exhibitors and 165,000 visitors from all over the world. From 2001 to 2017, the expected sales of the Peruvian companies present in this platform amounted to $530 million.
