For the second year running, Peru will be the Guest of Honor at the most important fruit and vegetable fair on the Asian continent, Asia Fruit Logistica 2020, which will take place on September 23-25 next year in Hong Kong.
The organizers of the prestigious fresh produce event in Asia announced this distinction on the event’s official website. They also highlighted the fast growth of Peruvian food exports and their increased presence in Asian markets.
Over the next ten months, the Asia Fruit Logistica organizers and Peru’s export, tourism and investment agency will carry out a series of activities in the Southeast Asia market, seeking to bring trade partners closer together so that they can attend the fair.
For this reason, events have been planned in this region through the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERU), such as trade missions, presentations of exports and events aimed at the end consumer, with the Super Foods Peru industry brand as a point of reference that has been well-received in Asia.
As 2020 marks the 10th anniversary of the Free Trade Agreement with China, Peru will seek to consolidate its presence across the different Asian markets, and therefore its participation as Guest of Honor at this fair will help achieve this institutional objective.
The presentation at the Asia Fruit Logistica fair is part of the market penetration and positioning strategy for Peruvian agro-exports in the Asian market.
SUCCESSFUL PARTICIPATION
Peru has participated in Asia Fruit Logistica since 2008, but this year - its first time participating as Guest of Honor - 250 business people attended who generated 637 new contacts and business deals worth US$ 180 million.
Varied and quality products were presented under the Super Foods Peru brand, with the most popular products being avocado, blueberries, table grapes, organic banana, mandarins and mangoes.

At Asia Fruit Logistica 2019, the fair welcomed over 800 international exhibitors and received more than 12 000 specialized attendees.
