The twelve Peruvian companies that made up the Super Foods Peru mission to Central America, which took place from May 20 to 25, agreed business deals in excess of $13 million.
The national delegation held 346 business meetings with more than 30 buyers from the Dominican Republic, Panama and Guatemala, a significant number of them from the Horeca sector, a segment that groups together hotels, restaurants and cafes that supply food focused on the local consumer and tourism industries.
Berries, avocados, tangerines, grapes, asparagus, maca, aguaymanto, quinoa, chia, and beans were among the products that were promoted with the Super Foods Peru brand, and that were in highest demand.
In addition to business meetings, Peruvian businesspeople made visits to the ports of Caucedo in the Dominican Republic and Quetzal in Guatemala, as well as to the Panama Canal.
This activity, organized by the Peru Trade Office Abroad in Panama together with the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ), was carried out with the aim of consolidating the country's position as a producer of fresh, Andean grains, functional foods, spices, pulp derivatives and preserves.
It is worth mentioning that participation in Central America is part of PROMPERÚ's strategy to position the industry brand, which uses trade missions to identify business opportunities in markets of interest, mainly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
