Peruvian businesses from the agro-industrial sector, members of the Super Foods Peru mission in Houston, achieved business deals worth around US$ 1.8 million for the next twelve months, the Peruvian Export and Tourism Promotion Board (PROMPERÚ) reported.
Exportadora Romex, Villa Andina, Bio Omegas, Laboratorios Fitosana and Agroindustria Osho, the companies taking part in the mission, participated in a business meeting with 20 buyers representing, among others, major retail and food service companies such as Goya, Sysco Corporation, Atalanta and Eastland.
Peruvian products that were well received at the meeting, which took place on March 7 in Houston, Texas, were quinoa seeds, instant beverages, chocolate and snacks.
The Peruvian delegation also had the chance to visit the Port of Houston, considered the busiest in the US in terms of overseas tonnage, and the second busiest in terms of overall tonnage. The city has a great deal of economic activity, and is the fourth biggest in the country, with a population of 2.3 million.
This mission was organized by PROMPERÚ, with the support of the Peruvian Trade Office in Houston and was organized as part of the Super Foods Peru campaign, which includes specialized missions in the Latin American, Asian, European and North American markets.
It should be noted that products related to the Super Foods Peru brand achieved shipments of US$ 3.461 billion in 2017, showing a 19% growth over the previous year.
