Two strategic alliances are making greater knowledge of the Peruvian clothing industry possible in Argentina. The first, with the University of Palermo (UP)'s Faculty of Design and Communication, in which 20 students were selected to create designs based on alpaca and present them at UP's Fashion Week and in a parade at the Ambassador's residence to more than 30 Argentine designers. Following the success of this activity, UP has incorporated a lecture on Textiles of Peru in its 2019 curriculum. The second alliance is with designer Jazmín Chebar, who, in coordination with PROMPERU, developed an "Alpaca del Perú" capsule collection, which was very well received.

During the second edition of the Alpaca Awards, a contest created by OCEX Brussels in 2018, 17 students from the La Cambre National School of Visual Arts in Brussels had the opportunity to discover and work with Peruvian alpaca yarn. Starting this year, the event will be extended to Latin America, with an edition in Argentina in 2019 and in Mexico in 2020. An exhibition was also held on the process of transforming the alpaca production chain at "This is MAD" in Brussels.

Two points for the promotion of Peruvian clothing were inaugurated in strategic areas of the city of Beijing. "Alpaca del Perú" is a store focused on alpaca clothing and "Casa Perú" features a multi-sectoral product range. In addition, there has been the introduction of the digital sale of alpaca textiles through the Jing Dong platform, one of China's leaders in e-commerce. The impact has been very positive. The market is highly receptive to luxury garments made from alpaca fiber, as well as to the theme of Peruvian culture and tradition.

As its main event for the clothing sector, OCEX New York organizes: PeruModa in NYC, which began as a participation within the Premiere Vision fair in 2017 and which, as of this year, will become independent as an exclusive exhibition for the Peruvian product offering. This event, held in collaboration with PROMPERU and the Lima Chamber of Commerce, publicizes the properties of Peruvian fibers such as pima cotton and alpaca, as well as our full package offer and other benefits within Peru's free trade agreement with the US. In turn, this trade office has been working on promoting Peruvian textile designers and brands along with the Alpaca del Perú brand.
