The recent Perú Moda en Nueva York trade mission achieved excellent results. The 23 Peruvian alpaca, cotton and blended textile companies that made up the delegation generated commercial opportunities to the tune of US$ 11.7 million, which will materialize in the coming 12 months.
The trading activity took place on July 23, when the delegation had the opportunity to showcase its products under the Peru Textiles and Alpaca del Perú brands to more than 200 buyers from the United States and Canada.
Among the Peruvian products that proved to be most in demand, and that were exhibited using the sourcing model, were sweaters, cotton t-shirts, and alpaca coats, as well as baby clothes.
The textile industry in Peru offers a full-package service, to enable key international brands to make clothing within the country. This stimulates the national economy by generating more than 250,000 jobs.
The participating companies also visited the Apparel Sourcing trade fair and multi-brand stores such as Bergdorf Goodman, in order to learn about the presentation of luxury brands on these commercial platforms.
Perú Moda en Nueva York is part of the strategy led by the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ) to position our wide range of manufactured goods in international markets and to strengthen the presence of the Peruvian-made clothing in the mid and mid/high segments of the United States, the primary destination market in the sector.
The strategy has been promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism in line with the PENX 2025 National Export Strategic Plan (Plan Estratégico Nacional Exportador) of the ministerial portfolio.
