As part of Berlin Fashion Week, Peru Moda Europe took place in the German capital on July 4. This event, in which 16 Peruvian clothing companies participated, managed to conduct business estimated at more than US$ 3.8 million.
Cotton t-shirts, alpaca sweaters and coats, as well as cotton garments for babies and home textiles were the products exhibited under the sourcing model and which were in highest demand.
More than 45 buyers from Italy, Holland, France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Russia, Belgium and Germany attended this commercial platform. The buyers included representatives of well-known brands such as Missoni, Victoria Beckham, Ted Baker, Ragman, Gocco, Harmont & Blaine and CWF, among others.
Buyers expressed their satisfaction with the concepts of sustainability, fair trade and design of the Peruvian offering, which are in high demand in the international market.
"The interest shown by European buyers highlights the great opportunity that Peruvian manufactured goods, such as clothing, have in the world. Businesspeople should take advantage of the vast potential of their products, which should be shown and positioned as a source of pride for all Peruvians," said the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Edgar Vásquez.
The head of Mincetur also indicated that this action is part of a strategy to intensify the internationalization of Peruvian garments through the Peru Moda commercial platform, which has been traveling around the various world markets, as announced in April this year when the event was taking place in Lima.
Peru Moda Europe was organized by the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ), and contact with buyers was made with the support of the Commercial Offices of Peru Abroad (OCEX) of the different European markets.
