Paris Fashion Week is globally renowned as one of the most significant platforms for global fashion, and in its Spring/Summer 2024 edition, Peru is currently stealing the spotlight.
Six modern Peruvian brands deeply committed to sustainable fashion are presenting their unique collections at the Palais Brongniart in Paris from this September 28th to October 1st as part of the international TRANOI Fair.
The Trade Office of Peru in France (PROMPERU) is spearheading this initiative to showcase the richness of Peruvian design and its steadfast commitment to sustainability. The selected brands are Aguaclara, Amarena, Ana G, Fringe, Kero Design, and Pampa, and each of them has a compelling narrative conveyed through their creations.
Aguaclara, a Peruvian brand established in 1987 by siblings Liliana and Jorge Villalobos, is drawing inspiration from the Golden Age of the French Riviera for its 2024 collection. The brand is renowned for its unwavering commitment to excellence and originality, with each garment meticulously crafted from premium Italian fabrics.
All the same, Amarena embraces sophistication and sustainability. Their collection is meticulously designed to endure the test of time, crafted from top-tier materials with minimal environmental impact. They collaborate with over 30 Peruvian artisans, showcasing the diverse fibers and weaving techniques of the country.
Ana G, with her Resort 24 collection titled "Echos de la Mer," draws inspiration from the sea and Peruvian beaches, creating garments that evoke feelings of peace and relaxation. Her vibrant prints and colors transport you to idyllic and symbolic locales.
Fringe stands out for its unconventional approach to knitwear design, leveraging the unique skills of Peruvian artisans and luxurious local fibers. Their avant-garde pieces reflect a profound connection to nature and Peruvian culture.
Kero Design's approach centers on learning, ancestral traditions, and ethical practices. Their versatile and contemporary pieces draw inspiration from traditional Peruvian crafts, bridging the gap between the past and the present.
Finally, Pampa, with its minimalist and contemporary approach, celebrates the beauty of the past in the present. Their collection, "Historical Nostalgia," incorporates corrugated details, pleats, and lace as a tribute to the 1900s, seamlessly blending craftsmanship with high-end knitwear.
These Peruvian brands shine not only for their creativity and distinctive style but also for their unwavering commitment to sustainable fashion and their use of local and ethical materials. Peru's presence at Paris Fashion Week serves as a testament to its internationalization and its significant contribution to the global fashion industry.
The fashion world is currently watching Peru with admiration as these Peruvian brands bring the richness of their culture and their dedication to sustainability to the heart of the fashion capital, Paris.
