"De mi tierra, un producto" project in Callahuanca, land of cherimoyas

"Of my land, a product" ("A product from my land") is an initiative that seeks to improve the quality of life of those Peruvians that are making isolated agricultural efforts. MINCETUR created this programme to make it possible for the farmers to enter the market.

The first place chosen was Callahuanca, in January 2012, for its cultivation of varied and tasty cherimoyas, its beautiful landscapes and archaeological sites such as La Quebrada Charan, Cascashoko and the ruins of Santil.

Callahuanca, in the Lima province of Huarochiri, is only a two hours’ drive from Lima and the water used for its agricultural lands comes from the river Santa Eulalia. Its name is derived from the Quechua words "cajlla" ("split") and "huanca" ("stone"). Combined they have the meaning "split stone" in English.
