Exuberant landscapes and a great wealth of natural resources are some of the main characteristics of the Peruvian Amazon that, from August 20th to 23rd, will host Expoamazonica 2020, the largest trade fair for goods and services in the Peruvian jungle.
According to the regional governor of Amazonas, Oscar Altamirano Quispe, who will host this tenth edition, they are aiming to generate business worth 70 million Peruvian soles. Oscar highlights the business conferences that will be held by the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ), as well as the conferences on tourism.
This event is sure to contribute towards the success of Peru's economy. To accompany it there is a well-prepared plan that includes promoting the region's nearly 900 tourist attractions, as well as its outstanding agricultural and cultural potential.
Economic epicenter
Expoamazonica, which is celebrating its first decade, will be held at the Universidad Nacional Toribio Rodríguez de Mendoza de Chachapoyas, renowned for its groundbreaking research on technology for the cloning of cattle, and the discovery of the fungus that causes coffee rust.
The event will have 350 stands, in which products from all the regions of the Amazon will be exhibited, such as Loreto, San Martin, and Ucayali. There will also be exhibitors from Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, the United States, Europe and Asia.
The opening ceremony will be held in the city of Lima and the regional authority indicated that the event would include an exhibition and competition with more than 100 of the best breeds of cattle for dairy and meat production.
Quispe added that one of the main events will be the unveiling of the new calf cloned in the country, which represents a sample of the scientific work being carried out in the region. "This is the clone of Altagracia, a Simmental breed of cow and National Livestock Champion, and raised right here in the University," he added.
Business meeting
Regarding the business conferences held by PROMPERÚ, a large number of national and foreign buyers from export companies, suppliers, supermarkets, restaurants and hotels will meet to negotiate with producer associations, companies and Amazonian cooperatives.
As part of this strategy, Peru's 30 exterior commercial offices have been in charge of promoting the fair in 50 markets around the world.
PROMPERÚ will also organize a trade mission along the Coffee and Cocoa route, as well as a trip in which to learn about it. There will also be a seminar, aimed at guest importers, and a tourist information stand will be set up called Y tú qué plan? (“And what’s your plan?”).
The tourism conferences will take place in collaboration with travel agencies and wholesale and retail tour operators.
