The American newspaper The New York Times made a selection of ten works published in Spanish titled "The books that marked the 2016". Included in this list was the work "De donde venimos los cholos", by journalist Marco Avilés.
This book gathers chronicles and reports on immigrants. To tell these stories, the writer traveled to communities in the Andean and rainforest regions of Peru.
For example, Avilés narrates the fights in Chumbivilcas, a popular festival called Takanakuy, or women's football matches in Churubamba, at 3,863 masl.
