Peruvian textile art is shown off in London

Until September 8, a fantastic display of our Peruvian textile art will be on exhibition at The Fashion and Textile Museum, a museum dedicated exclusively to showcasing the evolution of contemporary fashion in the city of London, UK.

For decades, designers from all over the world have been influenced by Peru's traditional textiles. This exhibition, entitled "Weavers of the Clouds: Textile Arts of Peru", seeks to explore our country's traditions and techniques, providing a space for imagination and inspiration.

In this exhibition, visitors will be able to appreciate Peruvian processes and practices of both historical and contemporary clothing, through garments, textiles, photographs, tools, illustrations and paintings, dating back to pre-Hispanic times through to the present day.

Works on display at the London museum include traditional Filigranas Peruanas costumes, photographs by Sebastian Castañeda Vita, Marta Tucci and Toni Frissell, and postcards by photographer Martin Chambi.

Also on display are pieces by contemporary Peruvian fashion designers Meche Correa, Chiara Macchievello and Mozhdeh Matin, as well as Peruvian-inspired designs by Vivienne Westwood and Naeem Khan, and a wide selection of traditional and contemporary Peruvian art, produced across a multitude of fascinating media.

About the Fashion and Textile Museum

The Fashion and Textile Museum, located in the heart of Bermondsey Street in London, is a cutting-edge center for contemporary fashion and textiles in the UK. Founded in 2003 by iconic British designer Zandra Rhodes, the Museum is part of Newham College London, one of Europe's largest higher education universities.

It should be noted that the Fashion and Textile Museum offers an exciting program of exhibitions and exhibits throughout the year, along with a series of talks, events and workshops with industry professionals.
