The third edition of FAE Lima 2019 has arrived

The third edition of the Lima Performing Arts Festival - FAE 2019 was inaugurated on March 6 at the Gran Teatro Nacional with the premiere of Gala, by renowned French director Jérôme Bel.
This event, whose motto is "We are all theater", is curated by Vanessa Vizcarra and is presenting eleven Peruvian and six international plays from Argentina, France, Brazil/Chile, Mexico, Uruguay and the United Kingdom.
FAE LIMA 2019 brings together 9 theaters; it is organized and produced by Británico Cultural, the PUCP Cultural Center, the University of Lima Cultural Center, the University of the Pacific Cultural Center, the Gran Teatro Nacional and the Teatro La Plaza. The Cine Olaya Cultural Center and Británico Cultural’s Auditorio Miraflores are also participating.
It is important to note that this festival is presented by the Ministry of Culture in alliance with the Spanish Cultural Center in Lima, and has the support of PROMPERÚ, through Marca Perú.
SCHEDULE
The following productions will have their world premiere in Peru: Democracia (‘Democracy’, Brazil/Chile), adapted from Facsímil (‘Fax’) by Alejandro Zambra and directed by Felipe Hirsch; Gala (France), a show whose concept and direction is led by choreographer and dancer Jérôme Bel; Josefina la gallina puso un huevo en la cocina (‘Josefina the hen layed an egg in the kitchen’, Mexico), the collective creation of Vaca35 Teatro en Grupo and directed by Diana Magallón; Lítost, la frustración (‘Litost: frustration’, Uruguay), written and directed by Jimena Márquez; Medea Electronica (United Kingdom), an adaptation of the Greek tragedy directed by Mella Faye; and Todo tendría sentido si no existiera la muerte (‘Everything would make sense if death didn’t exist’, Argentina), written and directed by Mariano Tenconi Blanco.
Peruvian plays shown will include: Astronautas (‘Astronauts’), written by Jorge Castro, Mateo Chiarella, Héctor Gálvez, Gino Luque and Gerardo Ruiz Milán, and directed by Jorge Castro; Deshuesadero (‘Junkyard’), written by Carlos González Villanueva and directed by Fernando Castro; Estos pantalones no son mis pantalones (‘These pants are not my pants’), written by Tomás Carreño and Sue Morrison, and directed by Sue Morrison; Exhumación (‘Exhumation’), a collective creation by Angeldemonio Colectivo Escénico and directed by Miguel Rubio Zapata; and Hijo de perra o La anunciación (‘Son of a Bitch or The Announcement’), by the Yuyachkani Cultural Group, written and directed by Miguel Rubio Zapata.
The festival will also feature five international workshops: Master Classes given by the Argentine director Mariano Tenconi Blanco; Creating Theater with Live Music, by the Pecho Mama company from the United Kingdom; Urban Dance Workshop, given by the Uruguayan Santiago Duarte from the Medio Mundo company; The Practice of the Actor in Collective Creation, by Damián Cervantes from the company Vaca35 Teatro en Grupo, in addition to an acting seminar given by Trinidad Gonzales from Chile.
There will also be Dialogue Roundtables, meeting spaces between national and international creators, in which there will be an informal conversation about a theme shared by the participants. In addition, there will be a market-meeting with programmers aimed at facilitating the internationalization of the performing arts of Lima, a place where companies and artists will have the opportunity to meet with producers of different nationalities and representatives of different platforms to generate working links and tour opportunities.
Vitrina is another of the new additions: A showcase of performing arts in movement, exclusively aimed at bringing specialized producers closer to the dance and performance proposals offered by the Lima arts scene.
