A documentary about Machu Picchu received an EMMY award. "Wonders of the World: Machu Picchu - 100th Anniversary" won the award for "Best Historical Documentary". The ceremony took place on 16 June 2012 in Los Angeles, California.
The documentary on the anniversary of the discovery of Machu Picchu was produced and led by Ashley Colburn, an American citizen invited by PROMPERÚ in 2011 as part of the foreign press travel program in Peru.
Colburn and his team visited (from 4-14 April 2012) Lima, Cusco and Puerto Maldonado, producing the award-winning documentary.
