The wonders of Peru are hitting the big screen! Everything is almost ready for the premiere of “Peru: Hidden Treasure”, an 80-minute-long documentary that will premiere in November of this year. Its aim is to promote the wonders of the country of the Incas internationally.
The film, directed by Uruguayan filmmaker Luis Ara Hermida, will showcase Peru’s most renowned icons as well as its lesser-known treasures. In 2016 and early 2017, the production team traveled throughout the country to film the entire coast and its magnificent beaches. It visited key archaeological sites such as Machu Picchu and ventured into hard-to-access sites little known by the general public. It also captured powerful footage of the sun setting in the Ica desert and rising in the Amazon rainforest.
The documentary will illustrate Peru’s lovely landscapes for Peruvian and Latin American audiences, and promote its impressive destinations and Peru Country Brand internationally.
About the premiere
In Peru, the documentary will premiere on the big screen. Elsewhere, users will be able to enjoy the film through a cable signal or a video on demand (VOD) platform.
PROMPERÚ Country Image director Isabella Falco highlighted the Uruguayan filmmaker’s efforts to contribute to the film culture of Peru.
“Luis Ara is a filmmaker and a tourist at the same time. He is a film director enamored of Peru who wants the world to discover our country’s hidden treasures. He is a lover of nature and adventure with no qualms about venturing into jungles and gorges, traversing deserts and beaches, and scaling snow-capped peaks to depict, with art and soul, the living cultures that make Peru a country beyond compare,” said Falco.
“Peru: Hidden Treasure,” according to its synopsis, offers an account of and a journey through the secrets of one of the most incredible countries on Earth. Peru is the cradle of cultures dating back millennia and a current source of fascination for people around the globe. It boasts some of the most beautiful landscapes that a human being can hope to witness.
The documentary focuses on the natural features, landscapes and geography of Peru, but also makes excursions into the country’s culinary culture, beaches, mountains, Amazon region and cultural heritage from civilizations that inhabited our country.
