The film “Peru, Hidden Treasure” is released

The world can now see the wonders of Peru in the documentary “Peru, Hidden Treasure,” an 80-minute-long film that recently opened in theaters in Peru.

After coming to the Peruvian big screen, the film will make its global debut on November 25, exclusively on Netflix.

The film is a journey through Peru created by Uruguayan filmmaker Luis Ara, who invites us to discover the treasures locked in time that even Peruvians themselves have not seen and that seek to wow hundreds of thousands of viewers around the world.

“The shoot was thrilling. Each place we visited had its special aura. The coast, its incredible beaches, the desert sunsets, floating through the jungle on the Marañón River, meeting people from all over Peru, the archaeological sites that make you feel you’re traveling back in time. It was an unforgettable experience that we want to share with the world,” said Luis Ara.

The documentary focuses on the natural features, landscapes and geography of Peru, but also delves into the country’s food scene and cultural heritage handed down from its ancestral civilizations. To bring the production to fruition, the team led by Ara spent eight months traveling to different regions.

The film features places like the beaches of Lobitos, Cabo Blanco and Chicama; the Ica and Nazca deserts; Colca Canyon; Lake Titicaca; and the archaeological sites of Machu Picchu, Kuélap and Karajía. They also journeyed along the Amazon River and visited the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve.

About the director:

Luis Ara Hermida, a 37-year-old Uruguayan, runs the multimedia production company Trailer Media.  He has worked as an executive producer for advertising and film projects, and has directed six films during his 15+ year career.  He represents American companies and is the editor of six magazines in Latin America, apart from his work as an executive producer for advertising and film.

“Peru: Hidden Treasure” is his fifth film, after directing and producing the hits “12 Horas 2 Minutos” (12 hours 2 minutes), “Jugadores con Patente” (Patented Players), “Gonchi” and “Teros: Sueño Mundial” (Teros: Global Dream).
