In order to bring Peru closer to new markets, the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ) participated in Matka Nordic Travel Fair, one of the most important tourism fairs in the Nordic countries, which took place between from January 15 to 19 in Finland.
PROMPERÚ participated through means of its office in the Netherlands, in coordination with the Peruvian Embassy in Finland and the National Chamber of Tourism (CANATUR). This year's event brought together more than 71,000 consumers and 15,290 travel industry professionals.
"Our presence at Matka is in line with the international promotion strategy we are working on to boost the marketing of Peru as a destination in coordination with the private sector, through the exploration of new markets, such as those of the Nordic countries," highlighted PROMPERÚ's Executive President, Luis Torres Paz.
Peruvian companies held a total of 1,287 business meetings during the event. Moreover, seminars were held for tourism companies and professionals, as well as for final consumers, on the main Peruvian destinations.
About the Finnish market
Finns, with their high purchasing power and 30 calendar days of vacation, travel abroad regularly. The low temperatures they experience during the winter are another factor that motivates them to travel frequently.
According to the Finnish Travel study, Finns made 8.2 million trips abroad in 2018. It is also estimated that tourists traveling to Peru stay in the country for at least 14 days.
