The new geoglyph is located in Pampa de Majuelos, Ica region, adding to other 50 geoglyphs found to date in the area. The new discovery is about 30 meters long. ‘Its style does not seem to be realistic, but imaginary. The left side shows what seems to be a head with a long tongue, while the right side, presenting spots and edges, seems to correspond to the body and legs’, said Yamagata University Andean archaeology specialist Masato Sakai. The unique design was formed by extracting stones accumulated at the hill’s slopes. ‘This is a usual technique for Late Paracas geoglyphs’, said Sakai. Meaning they are between 2,000 and 2,500 years old.
