Peru continues to chalk up new achievements! The prestigious US channel CNN published a ranking in its English version website of videos from the well-known program The Wonder List, which is broadcast through the North American media company, and where our country heads the list as "Wonder of the month" due to its various ancient riches.
The video, which was presented in the travel section of the site, covers various points of the city of Cusco, as well as the fortress of Sacsayhuamán, Choquequirao and Machu Picchu. Furthermore, the city of Puno, located in the Peruvian Altiplano, takes the spotlight through incredible images highlighting the natural wealth of Lake Titicaca, considered the highest in the world and a natural World Heritage Site in Peru.
Other destinations in the list include Iceland, the French Alps, the Galapagos Islands and the Vanuatu Republic.
It should be noted that, according to the International Tourist Profile prepared by PROMPERÚ, the US market is considered a priority for Peru because the average spending per US tourist is US$1,444, while the average for international tourists is US$994.
For example, in 2016 alone Peru received 3,744,461 international tourists, of which 586,479 came from the US, representing an increase of 8% over the same period of the previous year and 16% of total arrivals.
"Heroes of world cuisine"
Furthermore, the same website produced a list of the most underrated restaurants on the planet, rated by the American chain as “as unsung heroes of world cuisine”, where Al Toke Pez, run by the Peruvian chef Tomás 'Toshi' Matsufuji, stands out as a budget option, located in the district of Surquillo in Lima.
The media giant points out that the most famous dish by Matsufuji, who has a PhD in supramolecular chemistry, is fried fish cheek. It also highlights Al Toke Pez as an almost secret space frequented by friends.
Recognition that undoubtedly allows us to continue positioning the image of Peru abroad.
