Machu Picchu and the Amazon on the Flight Network List

Machu Picchu and the entire Amazon were chosen by Flight Network on their list of the best attractions, destinations and experiences from all over the world “World's Ultimate Bucket List for 2018”. The Inca citadel was ranked number 4, and the Amazon was ranked number 31.

Along with African safaris, the Great Barrier Reef, the Taj Mahal, the pyramids of Giza, and New York City, Peru's attractions are must-see travel experiences for any tourist.

Machu Picchu, the Inca citadel that was built during the 15^th century, was hidden for many years. In the early 20^th century, American explorer and archeologist Hiram Bingham "rediscovered" the site and since then it has been carefully restored and preserved for future generations. The history and tremendous serenity of the citadel impresses tourists, both those who walk along the Inca Trail and those who come to the site by train.

The Amazon occupies almost two thirds of Peru's land surface, and with the thousands of species of flora and fauna that inhabit the region, each visit feels unique. The Amazon is home to some of the most incredible and vibrant animals, with colorful birds, monkeys, big cats and even pink dolphins. Travelers can experience the Amazon in many ways, from hiking to luxury cruises, and the city of Iquitos, in the interior of the rainforest, awaits travelers with open arms.
