The Japanese Association of Travel Agents (JATA) included Machu Picchu, Vinicunca (the “Mountain of Seven Colors”) and Lake Titicaca in its 30 most beautiful landscapes of America ranking.
According to the Japanese article, Machu Picchu stands out as an attraction not to be missed among the priorities of Japanese travelers when visiting South America,while Vinicunca is an ideal destination for nature lovers and trekking.
Lake Titicaca and its floating islands also offer the chance to get to know the history and traditions of the place, surrounded by the unparalleled serenity and color that the highest navigable lake in the world offers.
The 30 destinations shared by JATA were voted on by a special committee of 165 experts made up of a variety of Japanese suppliers, travel agencies and tourist offices.
It’s important to note that Japan is the main source of Asian tourists in Peru. According to the Foreign Tourist Profile 2017, prepared by PROMPERU, 70% of Japanese tourists stay in Peru for between 4 and 7 nights, and they carry out cultural (97%) and nature (60%) activities. They spend US$ 1 848 on average.
