In the context of the ITB trade show in Germany, our country received two awards at the Golden City Gate Awards, an annual award ceremony that recognizes film and multimedia productions with a tourism-related background.
The audiovisual productions to receive awards in Berlin were "The best line up of experiences", a video about a tourism campaign during the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup to advertise our country as a tourist destination to European football fans; and "Meet the unexpected", a video that promotes Peru as an ideal destination for film productions and complementary production services in the country, highlighting the diversity of settings we have.
"This international recognition, which rewards the best films, videos and short films, fills us with pride and encourages us to continue working to make our wealth known to the world," said Sandra Doig, deputy director of Inbound Tourism at PROMPERÚ, after receiving the awards at the Peruvian stand at the ITB.
It is important to note that this is not the first time that Peru has received this type of recognition. The productions "Film In Peru", "Generation with a cause", "Peru, the richest country in the world" and "Voyager, colors of Peru" were awarded in 2018.
PARALLEL EVENTS
Meanwhile, within the framework of this important tourist sector event and with the purpose of positioning our country as an adventure destination, many times champion of the Dakar Rally, Stéphane Peterhansel, made an appearance at the Peru stand.
The French racing driver told us about his experience in Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley, highlighting the geographical diversity of our country, given that after visiting Cusco he participated in the competition, visiting the impressive dunes of Ica, as well as the regions of Moquegua and Tacna. He was impressed by Peru's major tourist appeal, especially for adventure sports.
During his presentation at the ITB, the 13-time winner of the Dakar Rally also announced that in April he will be returning to Peru to cover two southern regions in depth: Arequipa and, again, Cusco. He will travel by motorcycle and will be accompanied by his wife Andrea Mayer who is also a racing driver.
"It was a good experience so I’m going back in April to visit an area that I did not visit with the Dakar, such as the route from Chivay to Cusco. I chose to go back because I fell in love with the kindness of the people and I'd like to point out that the culinary experience can not only be had in Lima, but in every corner of the country," said Peterhansel at the ITB.
The French driver plans to visit the city of Arequipa, Chivay and the Colca Valley, while his trip through Cusco will take him to the 3 Canyons Regional Conservation Area, known for its amazing landscapes, and the town of Sicuani.
