Our country was recently recognized at the Chinese Tourist Welcome (CTW) awards ceremony in Shanghai, where it won the gold award in the 'Marketing' category.
The award highlights the marketing plan that the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ) has designed to attract high-spending Chinese travelers, mainly the growing segment of independent travelers accustomed to traveling to far-away places, and willing to spend large amounts if the experiences appeal to them.
The institution is therefore investing in a long-term positioning of Peru, especially using a digital video platform, given that these potential Chinese travelers use this type of product on a daily basis, something which influences their decision to travel.
Traditional marketing work has also been reinforced, using innovative digital tools to create business partnerships and empower Chinese travel agents to sell our destinations. This comprehensive approach will encourage and accelerate the arrival of high-income Chinese travelers.
CHINESE INFLUENCERS
PROMPERU did in addition organize a trip to our country for two Chinese influencers, with their stay being filmed. This material was used to launch a promotional video, followed by the series Uncover Peru (15 episodes). Each episode focuses on a unique experience in Peru, shown in a style that is extremely attractive to the Chinese.
It should be noted that Peru is the first Spanish-speaking destination to create videos made by Chinese experts to attract Chinese travelers and that the videos were promoted at the same time on the most widely used Chinese social networks: WeChat and Weibo. The videos received more than 3.3 million views.
A feature of PROMPERU promotional activities in 2018 was the New Year's campaign 'Explore Peru', launched on social networks on December 12, registering 99,366 views.
