The Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PROMPERÚ) received a LATA Achievement Award in the category of Destination of the Year, for leading the country's position as a gastronomic leader and for the work done with the UK media, in order to promote Peru as a tourist destination.
Also, this same award, given on June 10, also recognized PROMPERÚ for leading the country's participation in events aimed at the final consumer, in order to reach potential travelers from this market.
This award is accompanied to the special mention made to the marketing and public relations campaign within the framework of the release of the movie Paddington 2. The qualifying jury analyzed the campaign and, according to its members, was considered "Highly Commended" .
Prior to the worldwide release of the film, an private screening of Paddington 2 was organized for 60 travel and media companies, including Lonely Planet Traveler writers, Sunday Times Travel Magazine, Harrods Magazine and TTG. A contest was also launched for the spectators where the prize was a trip to Peru.
The panel of judges was made up of key figures from the travel industry for Latin America in the United Kingdom such as Derek Moore, president of the Association of Independent Tour Operators; Barbara Kolosinska, executive director of C & M Recruitment; Aneil Bedi, founder of Brand Agents; Quinn Meyer, founder of Crees Manu; and Danny Callaghan, general manager of LATA.
