WTA Latin America 2018 gives four awards to Peru

Peru successfully participated in the World Travel Awards Latin America, one of the most prestigious events in the travel and tourism industry and which gave the country four important awards on September 15, once again demonstrating Peru’s high quality in this industry.
The ceremony took place in the historic Palacio de Cristal in the city of Guayaquil, Ecuador, and was attended by leading industry experts as well as international media. Peru won prizes in the following categories:
- Best Culinary Destination in South America
- Best Cultural Destination in South America
- Best Tourist Attraction in South America: Machu Picchu.
In addition, the Peruvian Export and Tourism Promotion Commission - PROMPERÚ, won the award for the Best Tourism Office in South America for the third year running. "These successes are a source of great happiness for us, because they show the coordinated work between the public and private sectors, in addition to enhancing our country before the eyes of the world, by consolidating us as a destination rich in history, culture, nature and with a delicious cuisine recognized worldwide", highlighted Marisol Acosta, PROMPERÚ's Tourism Director.
The winners of the South American edition will compete in the world edition, which will be held on December 1 in Portugal and in which Peru is nominated in three additional categories: Best Tourism Website: Peru.travel, Best Green Destination and Best Short Vacation Destination ('City Break Destination'): Lima.
