Casa Perú (Peru House) Lima 2019 has just opened its doors to showcase the best of the country to the international press and to the thousands of athletes who will participate in the most significant event in Peru's sporting history, the 18th Pan American Games and the Sixth Parapan American Games.
"Casa Perú is a marketing strategy that enables visitors to experience the country's attributes in a single space, representing a great opportunity to show the best of our culture and star export products to the journalists who will cover Lima 2019, as well as to the athletes and delegates who will pass through the Sports Village," said the head of MINCETUR, Edgar Vásquez.
There will be two locations for Casa Perú Lima 2019 in the city: one in the Press Center, located in the Lima Convention Center, and the other in the Sports Village in Villa El Salvador. The largest presence of American athletes and foreign press will be concentrated at the two venues.
"The accomplishment of these games is a great opportunity to make our country an ideal place for the accomplishment of major sporting events of international significance. Lima 2019 will also be a window to tell the world that Peru is a mega-diverse nation with cultural, gastronomic and tourist destinations not to be missed," said PROMPERÚ executive president, Luis Torres.
What's new at Casa Perú
The central theme of Casa Perú is the Qhapaq Ñan, which invites you to travel around Peru guided by a chasqui along four routes: nature (biodiversity and Amazon culture), adventure (tourist activities via virtual reality), food (tastings of our superfoods, pisco and renowned cuisine) and art and creativity (crafts and works inspired by our ancient history).
In addition, an exhibition of the replica of the Lord of Sipán has been set up where visitors can admire his main treasures, as well as the tomb of Huaca Rajada (Lambayeque), where he was found. This exhibit will be located in the hall on the 2nd floor of the Press Center at the Lima Convention Center.
There will also be a photographic exhibition of Peru's first travel guide book, by the Spaniard Gonzalo de Reparaz. This will be located in the hall on the 4th floor of the Press Center at the Lima Convention Center.
As well as these features, in conjunction with the National Forest and Wildlife Service (SERFOR) and the contribution of the Ucayali Timber Association (CEMU), a house has been constructed using certified wood from Peru, to show the export potential of this product. Azúcar Huayo, Cachimbo, Capinuri, Cumala, Huayruro, Palisangre and Shiguahuaco are some of the varieties that can be appreciated.
Promoting Tourism
For those visitors who wish to make trips to the interior of the country, the website www.peru.travel/lima2019 has been created with the inclusion of a special section that promotes our country and its attractions among athletes, international attendees to the event and the general public.
The website is available in Spanish and English. In addition, the site features a special section where users can find more than 50 travel packages from 23 different tour operators, with offers from 11 regions of the country.
For the Peruvian public, PROMPERÚ will be present through a tourist module of the '¿Y tú qué planes?' travel program in the Exhibition Park, in order to promote trips within the national territory.
This is the fourth Casa Perú carried out by the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ), a promotional campaign organized for events that bring together a large international audience, as happened last year at the Winter Olympics in South Korea, the South by Southwest (SXSW) event in Texas and the Russia 2019 World Cup.
