Peru is going to Dubai!

For 173 days, Peru will be in the eyes of the world. This is thanks to its participation at Expo 2020 Dubai, a major event that, according to the organizers’ estimates, will be visited by more than 15 million people. This space, bringing together companies and organizations from more than 180 countries, will be an excellent opportunity to promote exports, increase foreign investment, increase the flow of tourists and consolidate Peru as one of the country’s with fastest annual growth.

The Peruvian commercial offer will include leading exports such as superfoods and alpaca fiber, among others. In the three years following the event, it is estimated that non-traditional Peruvian exports to Middle Eastern markets will reach $169 million. With respect to tourism, it is estimated that 30,000 potential travelers, mainly from Asia, will visit Peru in the two years following Expo Dubai. 

Thanks to our participation in various international exhibitions, tourism has been growing steadily over the last 10 years and has managed to establish itself as the third economic activity in our country, accounting for 3.9% of GDP. In the case of exports, a 7.5% growth was recorded in 2018, reaching a record figure of US$ 47.7 billion. Non-traditional exports grew by 12.6%, reaching $13.2 billion. Although these results may not immediately be noticeable in the economy of each Peruvian, they are far-reaching in the fight against poverty and the funding of infrastructure and assistance projects.

The Peruvian pavilion

The invaluable natural wealth of the country, tourist attractions and exports can be appreciated in the Peruvian pavilion, which will have dedicated spaces for business meetings. This is undoubtedly an unprecedented opportunity to position Peru as the ideal country for doing business.

The doors of the Peruvian pavilion will be open to investors, business people and leaders of international companies interested in closing deals in foreign trade and tourism. The initial goal is for 10% of all attendees to visit Peruvian pavilion, which would mean 1.5 million potential tourists, investors and importers.

In this pavilion, which will be built according to a creative design displaying the historical link between Peruvians and weaving (according to the winning competition proposal), visitors will be able to find a Peruvian food restaurant, a travel agency and spaces for selling Peruvian products.

Thanks to the promotional activities carried out at Expo 2020 Dubai, Peruvian products will enter new markets, especially Asia and the Middle East, whose population represents about 60% of the total inhabitants of the planet.

Main attractions at Expo 2020 Dubai

60 shows a day will be on offer from 20 October 2020 to 10 April 2021, with performances by world-renowned artists and innovative architecture ranging from the world's largest 360-degree projection surface in the Al Wasl Plaza steel dome to the natural materials that make up the Opportunity Pavilion.

Based on the premise of building partnerships and inspiring ideas that will forge the world of tomorrow, Expo 2020 Dubai will have a sustainability pavilion where you can discover innovative global projects that are creating new paths to sustainability and that seek to protect our planet for future generations. 

Visitors will also be offered the chance to enjoy the best gastronomy in the world in the more than 200 food and drink establishments it will house. They will also feature art installations by local and global talent in the living canvas.

Another of the great attractions of this world expo will be its mindfulness and extreme sports sessions; as well as activities for the disabled. In order to encourage curiosity and wonder in younger visitors, there will be a workshop to make your own robot, learn about human body parts printed in 3D or burn off energy through games with exercises.

Expo 2020 Dubai also has an ambitious volunteer program, which aims to attract more than 30,000 people of different ages, nationalities, cultures and backgrounds.
