Peruvian businesses from the timber industry participated at the Domotex 2019 fair in Germany, held between January 11 and 14 in Hannover, Germany, and managed to conclude business deals worth $3.3 million, to be finalized in the next 12 months.
The aim of the Peruvian participation was to promote the internationalization of small and medium-sized wood manufacturing companies. This edition was attended by exporters from Lima and Madre de Dios, and the Ucayali Export Consortium (CEMU Ucayali), representing the twelve SMEs that make up the Consortium.
Buyers who visited the Peruvian pavilion in Domotex highlighted the solid wood colors for interiors and the quality of their finishes, as well as the variety of species offered in flooring displays. Among the most in demand products were solid floors for interiors and decking for exteriors.
The buyers most interested in the Peruvian products were from Germany, France, Belgium and Denmark.
Peru thus proved itself to be a supplier with differentiated products in the industry due to the high resistance, durability and natural beauty of its wood. Furthermore, it is important to mention that the goal of attracting new business contacts was also achieved, obtained with the support of the Commercial Office of Peru Abroad (OCEX) in Germany.
The participation in the Domotex fair was organized by PROMPERU and the OCEX in Germany, and had the technical support of the Import Promotion Desk (IPD). It should be noted that most of the participating companies have forest management certification (FSC or Chain of Custody) and carbon neutrality.
