Traditional Arequipa cuisine dazzles at the 7th edition of the Feinmesse Trade Show in Switzerland

From October 31 to November 3, the Swiss city of Basel hosted the seventh edition of Feinmesse, a trade show dedicated to the exhibition and sale of fine products from Europe and Latin America, where Peru participated for the second consecutive year.
On this occasion, the region of Arequipa was chosen to represent Peru with its traditional gastronomy, and which captivated those attending the show, including attendees from Switzerland, Germany and France.
The distinguished Peruvian chef and restaurant owner Mónica Huerta participated as an exhibitor and was in charge of displaying details, in the Feinmesse auditorium, of how to prepare delicious Arequipa dishes such as ocopa, stuffed rocoto and the traditional chicha de guiñapo.
Huerta, who is one of the main promoters of the Arequipa Picantera (Small Restaurants) Society, travelled to Switzerland with the support of Promperú. The renowned chef brought original supplies and her own travel batan (milling stone) in order to showcase Arequipa cuisine, with its own aromas and incomparable flavors.
Another of the main attractions of the Peruvian pavilion and Arequipa was the image gallery of the Toro Muerto petroglyphs, in the province of La Unión, presented through the lens of Arequipa nature photographer, James Posso.
The public at the show was also able to appreciate colorful looms, alpaca garments and spirits, presented by the companies Makumayu, Faboullosa, La Piuranita, Heliconia Lodge, Viajando Südamerika, JV Filmmakers, Gonzalo -. Peruvian Cuisine, among other attractions.
It is important to note that Peru-Vision, a company dedicated to the promotion of trade and international cooperation between German-speaking countries and Peru, was in charge of the organization for the Latin American pavilion

- According to MCH Group, organizer of Basler Feinmesse, more than 30,000 people visited the show this year; with 27 of the 133 exhibitors being in the Latin America Pavilion.
