Information for your visit

The sol (S/) is the official currency of Peru, with bills available in denominations of 10, 20, 50, 100, and 200 soles. Coins come in 10, 20, and 50 cent denominations, as well as 1, 2, and 5 soles. The US dollar is widely accepted at many commercial establishments, restaurants, hotels, and gas stations. Foreign currency can be exchanged at banks and exchange houses, which typically operate from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on Saturdays until noon. ATMs are available in nearly every city across the country and are usually connected to the Plus (Visa), Cirrus (Mastercard), American Express, and other networks. You can withdraw cash in either soles or US dollars from these machines.
