María Antonieta Mérida Enriquez

She was born in the neighborhood of San Blas in Cusco and has been strongly influenced by her father, sculptor Edilberto Merida, helping her become a great artist. He portrayed the life condition of indigenous farmers from the most remote locations on his clay figures. "Don Edilberto" has managed to portray the suffering and pain of these Peruvian inhabitants through expressive sculptures, achieving international recognition that his daughter has managed to maintain. After travelling with his father around the world to take part in exhibitions and art galleries, Antonieta decided to go even further. She mixed "indo expressionist" art with the best of the renowned Cusco School of Painting. In this way, she managed to recreate the characters of these paintings with gold leaf, silver leaf, and other motifs.
