Luis Izquierdo Villavicencio is literally a champion in medicine. He is a surgeon, currently considered the best ophthalmologist in the world. He won the gold medal at the Cataract Surgery Olympics, an event organized by the World Ophthalmology Congress where techniques for cataract treatment are analysed. Dr. Izquierdo was worthy of this award after beating surgeons from all over the world. He is a professor of ophthalmology and runs his own eye clinic: "OftalmoSalud". There he assists patients who are unable to afford treatment or surgery. Among his patients is one of the best soccer players in the history of Peru: Julio Melendez, who at age 74 suffered from cataracts. The former soccer player underwent surgery with Dr. Izquierdo, and he recovered his sight.
