María Julia Mantilla

Maria Julia Mantilla Garcia is from Trujillo. She was crowned world s most beautiful woman in 2004 Miss World beauty pageant. Before walking the catwalks, "Maju" won first place in the 2001 National Triathlon and Pentathlon Championship. After this triumph, she studied and worked in Marketing and Advertising, at the same time, she was also working as a model. On December 4, 2004, at age 20, she won the Miss World contest held in China; becoming the second Peruvian to win the crown in this contest. She also won the title of "Continental Queen of the Americas". During her reign, "Maju" was dedicated to raising funds for various charities. Currently, she is hosting a very popular Peruvian TV magazine. She has also appeared as guest-star on various national soap operas.
