Juan Diego Flórez

Juan Diego dreamt of becoming a singer while performing songs from the Beatles and Led Zeppelin. It was at school that one of his teachers discovered his potential as a lyric singer and encouraged him to enter the National Conservatory of Music in Lima. He also joined the National Peruvian Chorus and then performed solo repertory pieces by Rossini and Mozart. After that he travelled to the U.S. to study at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. There he started performing Rossini s broad repertory. In 2001 he signed a contract with Record Company Decca where he recorded four solo albums. In 2013, famous tenor Luciano Pavarotti named him his successor and Juan Diego humbly accepted the compliment. He is also a UNESCO Good Will Ambassador.
