Sitka Semsch Vicenta Maria Gutierrez is an internationally renowned fashion designer. Sitka joined the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence to study fashion with a major in garments and textiles. She then graduated with honors from that institution. In 1995, Sitka returned to Peru and began working in her own atelier, designing dresses, shoes, jewelry, and handbags. In 2003, she won the New Star in Fashion Award at the Fashion Week of the Americas and since 2004 she has been the only Peruvian designer participation at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week-Russia. Sitka uses cotton, linen, wool and alpaca fiber on her designs. As she says, her collection is created to stay out of the comfort zone and go way beyond.
