People have been marveling at the softness and resistance of alpaca fiber, which is presented under the Alpaca del Perú brand name, since January 22nd at Pitti Filati — Europe’s top trade fair dedicated to the world of knitting yarns.
During the Italian event, the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ) will present Show Your Flags at Pitti, a new collection that reflects the concept of this edition and transmits the essence of each yarn destined to become a product that will take the international market by storm.
The collection was designed by Giovanni Cavagna, an expert in everything from high-end fashion to warp knitting and ready-to-wear lines, with a professional background in Max Mara, Les Copains, Loro Piana and Edicion. It will be presented under the sectoral brand Alpaca del Perú, which was originally created to promote the fine Peruvian fiber that is now synonymous with luxury and exclusivity.
The many nuances of alpaca textiles and their long tradition will be reflected in this project. Sweaters made from the fiber of this camelid will be on display, accompanied by voluminous cotton skirts and pants, making up complete, harmonious and sophisticated outfits.
Pitti Filati will attract over 5,000 visitors, half of whom are from Russia, Turkey, Japan, Korea and China. The specialized attendees will undoubtedly visit the Peruvian stand where they will be informed about the uses and advantages of alpaca fiber. They will also be told about the origins and advantages of the fiber, as well as its production in Peru.
