Peru Moda Deco has been positioning the Peruvian fashion and decoration industry globally for 25 years. Each year, professionals from all regions of Peru come together to showcase their work to global buyers in an environment of innovation, quality, design, and sustainability.
This edition of Peru Moda Deco, "In Harmony with the World," will take place on October 19th and 20th, aiming to position itself under a concept that harmonizes sustainability and industry quality, as stated by Angelica Matsuda, executive president of PROMPERU, during the launch event of Peru Moda Deco.
"Year after year, Peru Moda Deco has gained global importance. This is the most significant peruvian platform in the regional and global textile sector. We aim for the fashion and decoration offerings to be recognized for their value, quality, and reliability worldwide," said Matsuda during the Peru Moda Deco launch.
Furthermore, the support of the peruvian government for Peru Moda Deco contributes to an increasingly positive reception by buyers and professionals worldwide. This year, 200 peruvian companies will participate in this event, with 41% being small businesses and 44% being micro-businesses.
Another significant aspect of this edition is the active participation of 15 companies from the Gamarra Commercial Emporium, which have recently been trained in the Gamarra Export Route program.
The objective for this year is to secure the participation of 200 buyers from all five continents, while continuing to promote sectorial brands that have sustainability as their fundamental pillar.
The October program consists of nine days filled with various activities:
- October 17th-18th: It will begin with a guided tour for brand buyers, providing them with a gastronomic, cultural, and fashion experience.
- October 19th-20th: Commercial spaces will be developed, including buyer breakfasts, business meetings, forums, exhibitions, and the ‘Young Creators of the World’ competition.
- October 21st-25th: The "Reverse Mission to Regions" strategy will be implemented, inviting buyers to experience the peruvian export offering and understand how products are generated. This aims to convey that the Peruvian value chain is committed to sustainability.
The launch of Peru Moda Deco featured important figures such as Juan Carlos Matthew, Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism; Noela Pantoja, Director-General of Economic Promotion at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Ricardo Limo, Director of Exports at PROMPERU.
In 2022, Peru recorded exports totaling USD 1.873 million, representing a 19.6% growth compared to the previous period, with the United States, Chile, Colombia, and Brazil being the main destinations.
Among the most sought-after products in international markets are cotton t-shirts, cotton shirts, and sweaters, highlighting the versatility and appeal of the peruvian offering.
