From November 6th to 8th, six brands showcased the best of Peruvian fashion inspired by the different regions of our country.
The Latin American Fashion Summit (LAFS) serves as an international platform for Latin American fashion and design.
Founded in 2018 by two visionary Latin entrepreneurs, Estefania Lacayo and Samantha Tams, LAFS gathers the best and brightest talents from Latin American fashion alongside influential figures from the global industry. This year, it took place from November 6th to 8th at the Miami Design District in Miami, Florida.
The Cutting Edge of Latin American Design
At the forefront of Latin American design, LAFS witnessed the presence of illustrious and visionary figures. Among them, the prominent Peruvian model on the international stage, Juana Burga, made a lasting impression on attendees, contributing her style and expertise to the event.
However, the essence of LAFS emerges within the Pop-Up space, where meticulously selected brands and designers exhibit and sell their creations. Six Peruvian brands stood out for the first time in this edition, carrying with them the richness and diversity of Peruvian fashion design.
The burst of Peruvian creativity
The explosion of Peruvian creativity was evident through these six brands representing the best of Peruvian talent at LAFS. From garments crafted using traditional weaving techniques and modern technology to timeless leather designs, the diversity of proposals was exceptional.
These included:
Pampa showcased its collection of women's clothing crafted with traditional fabrics and modern alpaca fiber technology, combined with comfortable, versatile designs in neutral colors.
Gabuteau exhibited handcrafted leather handbags, clutches, and accessories with timeless designs and various colors.
De Loreta, inspired by Latin American themes and highly acclaimed in the American market, presented its Resort 2024 collection, while Fortuna Perú delved into the Bahía de Paracas to create unique dresses and swimwear.
Annaiss Yucra, recognized for its positive impact, returned to the Pop-Up with determination and showcased its 'Retama' collection along with its renowned Jacquard technique dresses. Additionally, Annaiss was a speaker at the "Journey to the Top" panel as the winner of the 2022 Pitch to LAFS in the "Positive Impact of the Year" category.
Escvdo captivated everyone with its Milagro and Camino collections, crafted in handwoven cotton fabrics with luxurious details and a deep commitment to millennia-old Peruvian tradition and culture. This commitment earned them the Pitch to LAFS 2023 award in the "Social Impact Project of the Year" category. With this award, two consecutive years have seen two Peruvian brands honored.
This was the first Peruvian delegation to present a diverse range of products at the Pop-Up, including alpaca, cotton, leather accessories, handmade pieces, knitwear, and flat-woven garments.
A stage that drives creativity
The Latin American Fashion Summit 2023 isn't just a fashion event; it's an ecosystem that fosters emerging talent and establishes Latin American fashion on the global stage. The focus was on design and innovation, with the promise that these Peruvian names would continue shining in the international scene.
LAFS celebrates design but also nurtures a space where creativity and entrepreneurship intertwine to shape the future of Latin fashion
