Nowadays business is dominated by technology. Peru, the country that holds the title for the Best Culinary Destination in the World, is no exception to this rule. With great expectations for what it will bring, Peru has just launched Peru Marketplace, a commercial platform that will serve as a window through which Peruvian businesses can export their products.
On this website, international buyers will find attractive options with over 2000 products from 600 export brands.
The project was developed by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism through the Single Window for Foreign Trade (VUCE) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
How does it work?
To access the website, you can register for free at the following link.
After registering, an evaluation will be carried out which will ensure that the export products are competitive.
You can also request your registration via email.
Authorized brands will be able to advertise their products to millions of buyers according to categories, which will facilitate conversion.
It is important to remember that Peru is one of the most megadiverse countries in the world, making it possible to find almost anything on sale.
"Currently products are being sold from the agricultural, fishing, metalworking and clothing sectors, among others. This list will increase as more companies register on the portal," reads a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur).
"Each registered exporter will be able to promote their virtual store in an easy and personalized way, set up their commercial profile, publish product catalogs, include audiovisual material and provide contact details and brand identity," the document adds.
Despite the global health crisis affecting the region, the supply in the agricultural sector remains solid and attractive.
Peru Marketplace is available in both English and Spanish.
A luxury opportunity
Rocío Barrios, head of Mincetur, highlighted the benefits that this website – managed by the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ) – will provide to Peruvian traders, as it is a great opportunity for them to establish commercial ties abroad.
She also pointed out that this project – today a reality – will give buyers and interested parties the chance to get to know all about national production and, should a purchase decision arise, it can be carried out directly, quickly and transparently.
"We will continue to encourage the digital promotion of export companies and to generate business opportunities that will mainly benefit MSMEs throughout the country," said Minister Barrios.
"PROMPERÚ will promote Peru Marketplace through digital marketing campaigns, as well as in virtual trade conferences, agreements with well-positioned digital platforms and far-reaching digital activations. Likewise, the Commercial Offices Abroad will continuously promote the platform among clients, commercial contact networks and international buyers," the statement explains.
There are big plans concerning the digital platform. It is hoped that it will double the number of exporting companies and increase the number of products on offer.
"By 2021, the goal is to incorporate more than 2,000 exporting companies and 3,000 products from the food, miscellaneous manufactured articles, clothing, handicrafts and service sectors, in web and mobile versions for buyers in 50 markets prioritized by the Overseas Commercial Offices,” the statement adds.
This new platform is a great way for SMEs to digitize their businesses and thus acquire a new sales channel. Especially during this present time when, due to the health crises caused by COVID-19, the whole world has moved into the virtual world, particularly in the case of business.
