For the third time, Peru will host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum, with the main event scheduled for November. This event reinforces Peru's position as an attractive environment for business and trade, as well as a key ally in fostering global sustainable economic growth.
The Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PROMPERÚ) emphasizes that Peru offers a secure and stable investment climate, supported by favorable policies and consistent economic growth. With 22 trade agreements covering 58 partners, Peru enjoys preferential trade conditions with economies that represent 82% of the world's GDP. Its strategic location on the west coast of South America provides crucial access to markets in Asia, North America, and Europe.
Peru’s biodiversity is one of its most valuable assets, reflected in the wide range of high-quality products it offers, which are highly valued worldwide. This diversity not only strengthens the local economy but also promotes sustainable agricultural practices and contributes to global food security.
In 2023, APEC economies accounted for 67% of Peru's foreign trade, with exports totaling USD 44.089 billion, of which non-mining energy exports surpassed USD 11 030 billion. Additionally, tourists from this region represented more than 50% of all arrivals in Peru in 2023, with over 1.2 million visitors, primarily from Chile and the United States.
The new Multipurpose Port of Chancay is set to transform Peru into a regional logistics hub, facilitating trade with Pacific coast countries and enhancing connectivity with Asian economies. Combined with the new international airport in Lima, the largest and most modern in South America, Peru is poised to become a global commercial hub.
