Peruvian restaurant ranked among the top 5 in the world

The prestigious global gastronomy ranking honored several Peruvian restaurants.
Peru on top! Maido, the renowned restaurant led by Mitsuharu “Micha” Tsumura, has climbed to fifth place in The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2024. It was also named the best restaurant in South America, improving on its sixth-place ranking from the previous year.

The accolades for “Micha” did not stop there. The charismatic owner of Maido also received the Damm Chefs' Choice Award 2024, honoring his long and distinguished career as an international chef.
These announcements were made on the night of Wednesday, June 5, at a gala held at the Encore Theater in the Wynn Hotel, Las Vegas, EE. UU.

Not only was Maido awarded, but other Peruvian restaurants also made a mark on this renowned list. Kjolle, by Pia Leon, was ranked 16th, and Mayta, by Jaime Pesaque, came in at 41st.

THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
Notably, there are national representatives in the ranking of the 100 best restaurants: Merito, by Juan Luis Martinez, secured 55th place, and Mil, by Virgilio Martínez and Pia Leon, came in at 73rd.
Central, celebrated as the best restaurant of 2023, was not eligible to participate in The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2024 because it held the top spot last year.
