Let's celebrate! Our gastronomy is once again one of the best in Latin America. On this occasion, Maido, the restaurant of the famous chef Mitsuharu Tsumura, received the highest award at the Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants gala held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
"There is a before and after Latin America's 50 Best. Since Gastón Acurio, who in 2013, organized this list. This union that we have today was born and we celebrate it every year. To work together, with more and more countries, spreading local cuisines, and putting Latin America on the map. I want to thank the Maido team, you are family, and the people who have been with us these 14 years; if it were not for them, the restaurant would not be here. I really believe that next year will be a beautiful one for this wonderful continent," said the chef during the award ceremony.
Peru has much more reason to celebrate because eight local restaurants were chosen among the list of the best 50 in the region. Thus, we have Cosme (50), Rafael (46), La Mar (42), Mil (39), Osso (33), Mérito (13), Mayta (10) and Kjolle (07). In addition, Florencia Rey, also from Maido, received Beronia Latin America's Best Sommelier Award 2023.
Our culinary culture never ceases to amaze the world with its heritage, tradition and diversity. In June, chefs Virgilio Martínez and Pía León of Central Restaurant received the award for best restaurant in the world in The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2023 competition. Let's celebrate this achievement for the country!
Pisco Spirit of Peru at the central gala
Hours before the ceremony at the mythical Copacabana hotel in Rio de Janeiro, people from different countries of the continent were able to enjoy our flagship drink at the Pisco Spirit of Peru stand. Dozens of people came to taste the cocktails made with this ingredient, such as chilcanos, pisco sours and more.
