According to OSIPTEL, Peruvian investments obtained US$ 1.17 million in 2015. This year, the number will grow due to new operators like Azteca or Virgin Mobile entering the market.

Every year, Peru reports an increase in mobile lines in service. For example, from 2014 to 2015 the increase was 7.4 %, this is the industry’s highest indicator obtained in the last decade. According to OSIPTEL, Telefonica was the biggest investor last year with

1.733 million soles, 8 % more than 2014.

Gonzalo Ruiz Díaz, OSIPTEL president, stated, this year’s investments will be better due to new operators entering Peruvian local market. ‘If we consider the investments of new entering companies Azteca or Virgin Mobile, it could rise up to 11 % this year’.

Virgin Mobile has been authorized by the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Peru to be the fifth mobile network operator in the country joining Claro, Telefonica, Bitel and Entel. Ruiz Diaz also mentioned, there would be more offers, generating competition and lowering telephone fees.

Millions of clients using cellphones or accessing the Internet would have more options, better rates and lower costs.
